Press Quotes.

Drew Makes Noise is a true one off.

A real DIY artist, his devoutly independent stance recalls those early Guided By Voices albums, just churning out indie banger after indie banger

Clash Magazine

Over the last couple of years, Andrew Wilson, aka Drew Makes Noise, has re-emerged as a serious contender. The Belfast-based artist has been carving out a wonderfully idiosyncratic – not to mention purposefully DIY – niche via singles including ‘Your Garden Grows’ and last year’s ‘Baby Blue’.

The Thin Air

The euphoric chorus of ‘Let’s Break the Night in Love’ hits with the energy of indie Springsteen

Info

Belfast’s DIY, Indie-Pop enthusiast Drew Makes Noise makes a triumphant return with the funk-infused synth-pop, pre-summer anthem Lemonade. 24/03/23 taken from the forthcoming album Let The Whole Tape Run.

Jangly funk guitars and big solos counterpoint lush, washed out synths and a stoned, Ibiza sunrise party, rhythm section. Think Dinosaur Jr meets Enya.

Having previously been nominated for music video of the year at the Northern Ireland Music Prize, Drew Makes Noise takes the DIY approach once more, creating a green-screen multiverse starring many iterations of the man himself. Emulating a 1950s postcard setting which perfectly compliments the uplifting summertime feel of the music.

Lemonade makes you yearn for brighter days ahead.

The forthcoming album Let The Whole Tape Run is set for release 24/05/23.

Produced By Drew Makes Noise, Mixed – Math Bishop, Drum Recording – Attica Studios – Donegal, Guitars – Start Together – Belfast, Drums – Craig Kearney

Lemonade is a song I’ve had in my head for a while now. I couldn’t figure out what the scattered lyrics were trying to tell me until I revisited my Syd Barret collection and coincidentally watched loads of footage of Trey Parker and Matt Stone doing acid at the Oscars. Then it all made sense of course.

Drew Makes Noise

Biography

Drew Makes Noise started as guitarist with indie/dance crossover act Ed Zealous who released their NI Music Prize nominated debut album “Wired” via Fierce Panda subsidiary Club Fandango in 2014.

Since disbandment, he’s been creating a vision in his home studio. Immersed in a world of synths, canned orchestras, guitar effects and late night psychedelic country walks, Drew’s been dreaming up a Psych-Pop-Prog-Rock world all of his own.

Insisting on a DIY aesthetic across the board, Drew released his 1st single “Satellite” in 2020. His DIY video, showing action man going on a comedy space trip was debuted in Clash Magazine, describing Drew as a “genuine DIY artist capable of churning out indie banger after indie banger.”

After having his first show cancelled by the pandemic, Drew spent the following period honing his craft, releasing singles, videos and, recording his debut album. Self-produced but mixed in LA by Math Bishop (Two Door / Twin Atlantic) Drew has widely embellished the kitchen sink approach of his 1st singles.

Single 1 from the album – Secret To Life which took a more subtle approach, evoking Sparklehorse, was lauded by Stephen McCartney of BBC Introducing. The head frying video was nominated for NI Music Prize video of the year.

Three more singles, including Lemonade will be released in advance of the album launch in May 2023.
